TERRAIN

Coniferous forest prevails. Relief forms large and medium with the maximal height difference of 40 metres. Runnability is good and medium.

Map scale 1:15000 or 1:10000 (1:7500 for age groups MW65 and older). Contour interval 5 m. For Trail-O – scale 1:5000, contour interval 2.5m.

ELECTRONIC PUNCHING SYSTEM

SPORTident electronic punching will be used for all groups.
Participants who do not have their own SPORTident chip have to rent them at a fee of 5,00 EUR covering all three days. DIR groups 2 EUR per day.

It will be possible to try out the SPORTident punching near the finish area.

The participants should run the course with the SPORTident chip that is registered in the Start List. Please, do not accidentally swap SPORTident chips, else you can be disqualified. In case any problems occur, please contact the Registration desk.

Competition centre and participants’ campsite at "Trākši". Price of a tent place 3.50 EUR per night

In case of necessity, also age groups M85, W85 can be introduced (provided that at least 3 competitors of the respective age group have entered).

Groups M 210**, W 210** are for all the adult beginners.

In the open groups DIR 1 – DIR 4 (direct entering) the runner may choose the preferred course length irrespective of the age.

The proposed course lengths are approximate, and the exact parameters will be specified in the competition programme.

W8*, M8*, W10*, M10*, W12*, M12* - marked courses supported by tapes on the terrain. Punching is with SPORTident following the order shown on the map. Both the route marked on the terrain and the controls on the map are in the sequential order to be followed. Runners may prefer either to follow the route marked with the tapes or to take their own route between the controls. In classes W8* and M8* the main prize will be awarded to the competitors who have completed their course without the assistance of an adult. Separate classes "W8* ar vecākiem" and "M8* ar vecākiem" will be created for competitors who had been assisted by adults in at least one of the days. Competitors in classes W8* and M8* will not be disqualified for missing/wrong punch. 60 minutes will be added to the result in such case. Competitors with wrong/missing punch will be listed at the end of results (after all who had taken all controls correctly). For groups W8*, M8*, W10*, M10* controls are placed directly on the tape-marked way, while for groups W12* and M12* controls can be placed up to 150 metres away from the tape.

PRIZEGIVING

The winners of each day will be awarded with prizes. In the groups of M21E and W21E, regarding the final results of the three days, the first six places will be awarded. In other groups the number of places awarded will be published on 9 July in the competition centre.

There will be a lottery of competitor’s number bibs during the closing ceremony.

Prizes for Collectives

  • Aim of collective prizes is to find out the strongest team(club) and family;
  • The contribution of each member in collective is measured by scoring system;
  • Score of each competitor is calculated by dividing time of class winter by competitor's time. The winner of the class scores 1000 points. Competitor who has been twice slower as winner scores 500 points.
  • Results for M8/W8 competitors, who has been assisted by adults (parents,siblings etc.) on the course, the points are multiplied by factor 0.5. Scores for competitors participating in classes M21O** and W21O** are also multiplied by factor 0.5.
  • Participants starting in DIR classes does not contribute to team/family score.

Prize for best family

  • See the calculation of score in general description of "Prizes for Collectives".
  • For the purposes of this prize, "Family" is considered to be parents and children under age of 18. Results of grand parents are not included in score of family.
  • There is no limit for number of children that contributes to total score of family. However, only two "parents" are allowed within one "family". Family can consist only of children (e.g. three or four siblings).
  • If "child" under age of 18 decides to start in the adult class (e.g. 17-year old participant competes in class M21S), the result still contributes to score of family.
  • Score for competition day is calculated as sum of 4 best results of family members.
  • Total score of family is calculated as sum of scores for competition days. The family with largest score wins. Maximum score for competition day is 4,000. Maximum total score for 3-days is 12,000.
  • Three best families will be awarded.

Prize for teams (orienteering clubs)

  • See the calculation of score in general description of "Prizes for Collectives".
  • Score for competition day is calculated as sum of 10 best results of team members.
  • Total score of the team is calculated as sum of scores for competition days. The team with largest score wins.
  • Maximum score for competition day is 10,000. Maximum total score for 3-days is 30,000.

Prize for fastest sprinters

  • Best times from last control to finish will be calculated each day.
  • One fastest male and one fastest female sprinter will be awarded each day.
  • Time is calculated using SportIdent punching system data.
  • In case of two/more equal results, draw will be done during awards ceremony.

SERVICE

Care of the participants’ children – kindergarten at each day’s event centres (from 2 years and older).

Warm showers at the event centres.

Catering services at the competition centre.

Entry fees must be settled by the entry deadline. An entry is considered as a warranty to pay the fee.
Entries after 28 June involve a + 50% surcharge on the entry fee. Course change is possible only up to 02.07.2016 provided there are vacancies, and the fee is +7 EUR. Competitors who have entered yet failed to show will be charged 50% of the entry fee.

  • Online entry (the entry becomes valid following the settlement of the entry fee).
  • Families of at least 3 persons (where at least 2 of the family members are young people; starting in classes MW8 to MW18) are eligible to a 20% discount of the original fee for the respective entry deadline.
  • For DIR 1 - DIR 4 courses, the entry and payment has to be made at the respective event centre of the competition day. The fee is 5 EUR per day for competitors in the age groups MW18 and younger, and 8 EUR per day for competitors in the age groups MW20, MW60 and older, and 11 EUR per day for all other competitors.
  • Car pass – 4 EUR (allows to enter the competition centre and each day’s event centres)
  • Bus pass – 7 EUR. Minivan (up to 10 passengers) – 5 EUR
